Michael has also volunteered with Boys & Girls Club, Our Children’s Centre, the World Partnership for Peace, the Eco Forestry Institute, and many other non-profit societies. He has received a number of awards and commendations for his community service.
Robert Jones B.A., LLB.
Robert Jones was born in Wales and attended university in Manchester and taught there for 2 years prior to immigrating to Canada in 1966. From an early age his father had suggested, “Go west young man”.
After spending a two years in Eastern Canada, Bob settled into a teaching position in Victoria. Bob was one of those “favourite teachers” with a funny accent and willingness to listen to his students. After 8 years, he decided a change was as good as a rest, and went to law school.
Bob graduated from UBC Law School in 1980. He articled in Vancouver with Harry Rankin and Rick Peck, two of the country’s top criminal lawyers. “Working with Harry and Rich was an amazing experience. Everyday I was working in the busiest court room in the province and learning from the best”
After 8 years of private practice, Bob was invited to join the Crown Prosecution Service. During his 20 years as Crown Counsel he prosecuted at every level of the courts in B.C. He eventually became Deputy Regional Crown Counsel for Vancouver Island, with responsibility for all prosecutions in Greater Victoria.
Bob’s experience as a top prosecutor makes him one of the best criminal lawyers in the Province.
Bob retired from the Crown in 2008, but could not stay away from the law.
“Retirement is not for me. I enjoy the law and I enjoy the people. Ultimately, I enjoy making my client’s life easier”.
Always a champion for those he represents, he tends to favour the underdog. Whether your case involves a trial or a guilty plea, he has 30 years experience and endless commitment to ensure that his clients obtain the maximum benefits from their court involvement.
